As an early up and coming communications professional my experience is limited. However slowing making my way into the industry and gaining as much experience as I can will benefit me in the long run. My end goal is to end up in a career where I can travel, write and design for lifestyle brands and companies and experience in these areas will only increase my appeal to employers.
Website design:
This is where my blog, Conentco., comes in; this blog was created as a creative outlet and enabled me to travel as much of my island state, Tasmania, as a could and help others see just how iconic and beautiful our state is. Contentco covers places to visit and see, places to eat and tips and tricks i use in my daily life. By creating my website from scratch it shows my capabilities of web design, written work, photography, technical assets such as site analytics. This experience will come in handy for my future career aspirations and will be an asset to employers. Creating this website has also given my experience in then creating this website you are reading today. The design and layout aspects of the website are also an example of my skills and enable my experiences to be further enhanced.
Social media:
For my online blog I also have corresponding social media accounts such as Instagram. With the high quantity of people using social media platforms in todays society having a social media account paralleled to my website means those who see the site will see the instagram account and those who see the instagram account will then see the website. This then attracts more attention to the website and increases site traffic and analytics. Being able to accurately post, comment, like, reach out and seek viewers is a major asset to abilities and experiences as I look for the right career choice. Social media is used frequently by many people of all age groups and is an asset for communication professionals. So growing up in a decade so used to using social media this gives me experience when it comes to future jobs with social media platforms.
Content creation:
Photography is another passion of mine and goes hand in hand with the travel I love to do. Taking the time to take pictures that will appeal to audiences and create a professional appeal is a skill I am slowly gaining and using this to my advantage may open more doorways in the industry I am pursuing. The editing of said pictures is another skill that will come with time but one that I intend to work on and perfect as this is another area that gains me more experience in the professional world.
